Jam on DUMBO Keeps Kids Rockin’ in the Cold

The second concert in Jam on DUMBO’s of the 2012 Winter Music Series is on Sunday, February 12th at Superfine, staring Still Saffire – a group of four teenage girls who will knock your socks off. Jam on DUMBO founder Jaime Levy Pessin tells us that “the first concert was a smash! More than 60 families came out to Superfine for an afternoon of face-painting, good eats, balloons and funky jams.”
In addition to bringing some of the coolest kiddie music acts to DUMBO, Jam on DUMBO is partnering with PS 307 on York Street to host a Music Week at the school. From May 21st-25th, they will bring in an array of musicians and music educators to work with the elementary school students. Funds raised from the Series at Superfine will help with the production of a Music Week at PS 307, as well as the 2nd annual Summer Family Music Festival.
Jam On DUMBO was founded in December 2010 by Pessin and Alisha Nissenfeld, two local moms who saw a need for more programming for kids and families in our vibrant neighborhood. They started with a series of three concerts in early 2011, and the great response from the community made them start to think bigger. Last August, nearly 1,000 people came to their Summer Family Music Festival under The Archway, and their musical Halloween parade was packed with kids in costume.
